Backlot Express
Just beyond the West Gate separating the Hollywood "theme park" and the "Disney•MGM Studios" are the workshops for the lot which (as the Story™ goes) has been converted into a restaurant to serve production crews and studio visitors now named the "Backlot Express".
This meticulously themed establishment is decorated with authentic movie props and equipment one would typically find in the manufacturing facilities on a classic Hollywood studio lot. As a "modern" environment its musical atmosphere is dramatically different from the lush orchestral scores of the rest of the park with dietetic West Coast Jazz songs one might hear on the radio interspersed with non-diegetic popular primetime TV Themes.
Of all the radically changed environments at the Disney•MGM Studios, the Backlot Express is a near-perfectly preserved time capsule in both sight and sound from its 1989 opening.
Part of the Studios Soundtrack Series created to preserve the original atmospheres of the park by presenting restorations of its underscores.
