WORLD OF MOTION

WHEELS OF MOTION

“A revolutionary turn of events: THE WHEEL. Now things really get rolling! It’s Fun to be Free.”
— X. Atencio, World of Motion Narration

Early in the journey through the wonderful World of Motion, we progress quickly from Foot, Water and Animal Power to what could be argued is the greatest of all human inventions — The Wheel as depicted in the once massive audio-animatronics attraction spectacular. Soon after its debut in the comically staged Assyrian Court, ride vehicles entered the first of the attraction’s four “Speedrooms” — a dome-shaped room that featured specially created projections of various media. In this case, this transitional scene featured hundreds of spinning wheels depicting the various applications and iterations of the proto-device as used throughout time.
This background features the original slide art of the nine wheels (painted by Yale Gracey & Ken O’ Connor) created for this scene within a domed space simulating the World of Motion Scene that is strikingly similar to one that was originally created 18 years earlier for Ford’s “Magic Skyway” at the 1964/65 New York World’s Fair.
